What has social conversation done for all of us? Many of us still come from the day when the wow was to have a computer at school.
Play some games on the old apples with the floppy drives and actually talk f2f with your friends. You barely used the phone back then other than to say I will meet you there at this time.
Which is interesting because the number of characters used on your telephone was probably not much more than a tweet. Before if we wanted to share photos we had to go to a drug store or discount store. Wait for it to print. Now shoot it and it's online within minutes. No scrapbook needed just a facebook, twitter, flikr or and other social media account.
Now there is nothing wrong with that. Will it replace the yearbook? And the signatures of all of your friends who either told you how great you were or that you were somewhat challenged? I hope not. But now with Adobe you can paste and share. You can past and share with many programs. Which basically means you can upload your yearbooks and everyone can make there comments.
Now that is pretty cool. It doesn't replace the signature value but my guess is with a tablet you will be able to sign it as well.
Technology has allowed us to reconnect with those that have moved on to re-share our lives with them, that is good. The side effect is we don't include a phone number to say like dude give me a call. We sometimes hide behind the technology to allow us to communicate without an actual f2f or verbal. Why maybe it isn't just cool anymore or maybe we just don't want to have that long of a conversation.
Technology also allows us to become friends with people that we just didn't connect with younger. We all change and now with technology we can become online friends. Which is cool as well and we should embrace it.
I love all of the technology, smart phones, tablets, email, social technology, facebook, twitter, youtube. But you know what it's still good once in while to pick up the phone and call an old friend even if it's from your cell phone on free minutes.
New technology also allows us to stretch the borders of our friendships in years. We may be younger or olders but now due to the fact that we are from the same soil we are able to connect and create a relationship.
That is good as well. So Technology bridges relationships. Social also allows you to meet new people who are connected to your past. Embrace it, enjoy it.
But also remember it's still cool to talk to someone on the phone or meet them for a beer. Nothing can replace a discussion that is not limited to 140 characters.
thanks for reading and thank you for being a friend.
